George Lund
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Lund is an experienced executive and successful investor with an extensive background in commercial banking, international project finance and private equity. As Chairman and CEO of BANKFIRST he directed its growth of assets from $20 million to $1 billion and sold it to a syndicate of Marshall Bancorp and Merrill Lynch. Mr. Lund has worked on a diverse range of transactions from government contracting to consumer finance to petroleum infrastructure. He has been involved, and continues to a limited degree, with several well regarded private equity firms. He is a board member of the South Dakota Economic Development Authority, Lapham’s Quarterly and the Leadership Council of the Mayo Clinic in Arizona. Mr. Lund is chairman of Torch Hill Investment Partners and Chairman of its Executive Committee.
William Sullivan
Partner and Investment Committee Member
Mr. Sullivan brings significant financial and operating experience in private equity to the team. He has held senior marketing and operating positions in large and small enterprises. He began his career in the M&A advisory group at Booz Allen Hamilton followed by management positions at the American Express Company, where he was a member of the Senior Management Group. For the last twenty years he has acted as an operating partner for several leading private equity and venture capital firms. While his focus at Torch Hill includes deal origination and execution, he is the lead partner overseeing the strategic and operating initiatives in the portfolio companies. Mr. Sullivan is a member of the Investment Committee.
Lieutenant General Gregory Newbold Ret.
Partner and Chair, Professional Partners Group
General Newbold is a widely respected former senior military officer with broad experience in military matters, homeland security, anti-terrorism, force protection as well as technical, scientific and field operations in the Balkans, Afghanistan, Iraq, Latin America, Africa and the Pacific. Upon retiring from the Marine Corps, he was the Director of Operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff (J-3) where he oversaw the day-to-day operations of the 1.3 million members of the active armed services. Previously, he was Commanding General of the 1st Marine Division. He is a director of Camelbak, Nortel Government Systems and Diamondback Tactical. General Newbold chairs the Torch Hill Professional Partners Group.
Michael Sheehan
Partner and Co-Chair, Professional Partners Group
Mr. Sheehan directs deal sourcing in the civil and corporate security arena. Former Deputy Commissioner of Counter Terrorism at NYPD, he was instrumental in shaping the counter-terrorism strategy for New York City following September 11th. He has previously served as Ambassador-at-Large for Counter Terrorism at the State Department, as a Director on the National Security Council staff, and as a US Army Special Forces officer. He is a distinguished fellow at the Counter Terrorism Center at West Point and is an NBC news analyst for terrorism and security issues. Mr. Sheehan is Co-Chairman of the Torch Hill Professional Partners Group.
David C. Miller, Jr.
Partner and Head of Investor Relations
Ambassador Miller was the Special Assistant to the President under President Bush (41st), responsible for counter-terrorism and counter-narcotics initiatives on the National Security Council and remains active on a number of intelligence advisory boards. Mr. Miller was the Ambassador to Tanzania and Zimbabwe under President Reagan. He is a Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, in addition to serving on the Board of the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy at Georgetown University and the Board of Advisors of Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. He has consulted to a number of major U.S. corporations on international business affairs and has served on the boards of public and private companies. Ambassador (ret.) Miller heads up Investor Relations and is responsible for fostering relationships with our Limited Partner investors.
Anthony Padgett
Investor Relations
A founding member of the Torch Hill pilot fund, Mr. Padgett works on investor relations and fund-raising. Mr. Padgett’s career includes senior positions with multinational companies in Asia and Europe and having served as a partner with the law firm Thelen, Reid and Priest, focusing on international trade and transactions.
Eric Ewald
Vice President
Mr. Ewald joined Torch Hill Investment Partners from UBS Investment Bank where he spent three years in the Mergers & Acquisitions group. He advised corporate and financial sponsor clients on acquisitions, leveraged buyouts and defense tactics in a variety of industries. Prior to UBS, Mr. Ewald was a Manager in the private equity group at Microsoft Corporation. The group held responsibility for the management and execution of all equity transactions including strategic acquisitions and portfolio investments. Over 100 transactions representing several billion in capital were completed during his tenure. Prior to Microsoft, Mr. Ewald spent three years in the Strategic Consulting Group of PricewaterhouseCoopers
Stephen Minor
Associate
Mr. Minor joined Torch Hill in 2005 soon after inception and has worked in a variety of roles including portfolio management, fundraising, and some transaction assistance. Before joining Torch Hill Stephen worked briefly for a boutique merchant banking concern in Washington, DC where he assisted small and middle-market companies with equity private placements. Before that, Stephen worked at Deutsche Bank Alex Brown in New York in their structured debt products group. Stephen is also currently earning his MBA at Georgetown University.
Andrew S. Bair

Product and Technical Partners are technical experts; selection and retention is dynamic and will respond as new niches are uncovered and needs arise for company- or product-specific evaluation. Presently Torch Hill retains experts in tactical equipment, armor programs, bio-terrorism, corporate and physical security, logistics, DOD acquisition processes and information security.
